Gosh Ruth, I cant believe people are still talking about that. I swear, thats
the best 225 my clients ever spent. However, what really puzzles me is that the
people who are complaining.. where is their ad? I mean as long as I or my
clients write the check, I can put anything in (well, at least those photos
that show me fully clothed) Im not promoting breeding programs, stud dogs etc,
in that specific lineup it was to show my string.
Advertising comes in many forms. Todays media world is very fragmented and
consumers are choosing to opt out on the fluff etc. Many times people speak of
the "old days" like it was a golden rule, in the 80's we didnt have the media
we currently have today.. including internet, list serves, Online advertising
and so on.
Check the statistics of any major newspaper or magazine, their Readership is
steadily declining. Im not making this up, just check the facts. People are
choosing to opt out. Essentially, what you read online is "old news" when you
get your daily newspaper or magazine.
When I spend my clients or my advertising dollars, I have to keep this in mind.
The whole world changes, Shepher world included.

I don't understand this --
tons of complaints about not enough content in the Review. There can't be more
editorial content unless there is more advertising.
Tons of complains about not enough ads. Then, when someone put in ads there are
complaints because they were not done the way someone else wants them.It was
like when Mike put in the ads for the other breeds he handles - ok, they
weren't shepherds but they paid. Say THANK YOU to any one who wants to pony up
the money so you have a magazine.
And if the dog is out of your stud dog and you want the world to know, put in
an ad and say this is my dog's progeny and thank the owner for doing the hard
work to promote the progeny. I like pedigrees but pedigrees are easily
found - do the work if you are interested, but do not discourage people
from advertising in the Review.
If someone wants to pay to have their dog's picture just because they
are proud and/or wants to be supportive - it is their ad, it is their
creativity, and it is their money. As long as it makes the advertiser
happy, so be it.
The Review committee is trying hard to encourage more advertising and several
people on this list are bending over backwards to discourage it .
