I have to bring back memories. That weekend Lew Bunch was judging in Reno
and we were both running for president of the GSDCA. People were asking me
why would I show under Lew when we were both running against each other?
Lew and I laughed about that. I assured him I was doing all I could to get
him elected, and I would never consider that it would affect his judging,
and it didn't.
I remember Paul and Jennifer, Flower Boy, the stream babbling next to the
ring, the food, the fun and the friends. And, thankfully Lew won the
election. Six months later was my diagnosis of cancer, and I would not have
done as good a job for the club as he did.
Still, all in all, great memories.

Our thanks also to Evan for stepping up to become president some years
back. I had done it for many years but with failing health in our house, it
was time to refocus on more demanding issues. Some recommend that we fold the
club as we had so few local members, but we had a long history, over 50
years as a club. So Evan stepped in as President, Carolyn accepted the task
of secretary and the club continued.
More recently some new people moved into town from other parts of the
country who were seasoned GSD exhibitors and now the club is looking like a
real club. Dee Laffer is our new President and we are delighted to see this
landmark even for our area.

Looking forward to a big PARTY in RENO!
As a past president of the Reno club, let me congratulate the club on
this. It is a one or two person victory, both Alycia have kept the Reno club
alive with the help of the Sacramento club and people like Carolyn, and so
many others.
It is a great little city, and lots of fun. I have memories of when Lew
Bunch judged and they were having a BarBQue contest and we got tons or ribs
for everyone. Maybe Flower Boy can set up something.
It is within driving distance for most of California and the West Coast,
and will be great even if you don't make it to the casinos.
I don't know why the board overlooked smaller venues like Los Angeles,
Seattle, Salt Lake City or San Francisco, but this is a big win for us on the
West Coast, and I for one thank the parent club for thinking of us.
