I find that microchipping the pups, registering them and having the new registration go to the new owners, gives me that same piece of mind. I know that the dog is correctly registered, that if it gets lost or away, I'll have a chance of being notified. The new owner also registers the chip in his/her name, but my name will always be there for 2nd notification.
