Hi Folks;
I have been reading all the posts about RALEEF and what everyone can do. I am
honor to be part of this committee and I am going to
give you all an example of what can be done if people stand up and let their
voices be heard. About 2 years ago there was a
Bill present in NJ to require breeders to be licensed.

Well, our state Dog Federation was not being very proactive about this
legislation, so my Newton KC (my AB) and New Brunswick
KC decided to take action. Within two weeks we organized a state wide meeting
with representatives from NAIA, ADOA, NJ Veterinary
Medical Assoc., the at and Bird fanciers. We get from AKC the addresses of
every club both AB and Speciality in the state and
I did a mess mailing initiating everyone to the meeting and asking for a $50.00
donation from each club to help to pay for the
cost of the meeting room at a central located hotel.

My husband did mass copying of information and NAIA brought alot of material.
We had well over 200 people attend the meeting,
had speakers from all Associations on telling everyone what actions need to me
taken.

We started with calling all the sponsors offices non stop, called other
Legislators to tell them why they should vote against this
Bill and just let our voices be heard. I called Legislators who were out of my
area, I let them all know that I voted and so did other
fanciers in there districts.

The Bill was pulled by the Sponsor about 2 weeks later and has not been
reintroduced. Things can be done in a short time if
people work together.

What you must do is organize with other clubs in your area, include the cat
fanciers and all other that might be effected by Legislation.
One ally that we have also is the Hunting Groups since the AR's are after them
also. Let your Legislators know that your dog votes.
Talk to people you work with, talk to you relatives and let them know about bad
legislation and ask them to make phone calls.

We have found that calling the Legislators offices over and over again makes
their staff very unhappy and can help to influence
their vote about a Bill.

Folks, we have to work together and we can not just sit back and take a wait
and see attitude. Just by making a phone call or
sending an email you can make a difference, these are your rights and liberties
at stake.
