But they do have white generations back and if a dog has intense line breeding
through these white dogs it happens. I know the white dogs it is coming up
through
as anyone that breeds whites does too. As well as the certain lines that did
produce
the faded colors but most of them even had white in the background. Barb, go
back
at look at your dogs pedigree.

gene. White is a masking gene. This has
been discussed, and explained in depth, previously.
BTW - If white causes so much fading, why are there
STILL faded colors, who have no white in their pedigrees?
What is causing their faded color?

You can add that when white
is in the background you get the faded colors as I
found out. When a white GSD breeds a sable GSD they usually
turn out
to be A^w silver sable or A^y gold sable color with the same
results with
a black and tan dog. So if you want the rich dark colors you
do not want to have
a white dog in the background.
As might be a good reason for white to stand alone and be
allowed to be
a new breed. :-) If AKC did decide to allow the Piebald
Panda and
White to separate they could combine to be a new breed just
saying.

That is one of the problems I have with the whites and the
DQ being
lifted. You REALLY don't know what
their
true color is when you use
them for breeding or have them in the background of your
lines or
animals you breed. That is why the
Panda's
are showing up in
breeding programs that use all kinds of colors including
whites
with no concern.
No one really knows the "real" color of a white
since it is
masked??
You might see a white dog...but it could be a
"masked"
liver or blue..or
even a Panda or blue merle for all we
know. Isn't that correct???
