Another Pet Industry Group (Along with PIJAC) changes focus  to  
include trade members and consumers (pet owners).  This, if they work  
with "us" to defeat anti-animal legislation is good news and about time.

WORLD WIDE PET INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE;
NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS


MONROVIA, Calif. (September 17, 2009) – The World Wide Pet Industry  
Association (WWPIA), the oldest nonprofit trade organization in the  
pet industry, has announced changes to the organization’s name and the  
election of its new Board of Officers. The changes were implemented at  
the group's 59th annual meeting, held in conjunction with SuperZoo,  
the national show for pet retailers, hosted in Las Vegas September  
15-17.

The World Wide Pet Industry Association will now be known as the World  
Pet Association (WPA). This change serves to accommodate the  
organization’s evolving platform, which services both trade members of  
the industry and consumers alike.

"For over 57 years, WWPIA has been a driving force promoting  
responsible growth and development of the companion pet, as well as  
related products and services," stated Doug Poindexter, president,  
WWPIA. "In recent years our scope of work has expanded to educate  
audiences outside of the pet industry through America's Family Pet  
Expo and PetSource.org. Our name change reflects our services and  
offerings to both industry professionals and pet owners."

WWPIA also announced the addition of 2010 officers and board members.  
Mike Lasky of Schinffino, Lasky & Associates, Inc., will continue his  
role as the chairman of WWPIA and is joined by 1st vice chair, Ruth  
Jeffers of JeffersPet.com catalog, 2nd vice chair Michael Twain from  
manufacturer Choo Choo Imports, CFO Lewis Sutton from manufacturer Pet- 
Ag and Brooke Berg of Jarden Animal Solutions will assume the role of  
secretary to round out the WWPIA’s officers.

Additional members either appointed to new positions or re-elected to  
two-year terms for Board of Directors include Barry Berman/NexPet, Jim  
Boschee/Chuck Latham Associates, Dominic Buccellato/Pets Supplies  
Plus, Mike Guerber/Evergreen Pet Supply, Jacinthe Moreau/Vetsource,  
Kailas Rao/Isle of Dogs and Steve Segner/ Steve’s Pet Shop.=
