[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: PAWS update

At my KC meeting last night, several of us were asking about the
club's position and were told that the board hadn't really discussed
it and didn't know much about it. I gave them copies of some of the
information I'd printed off from links and a few other members brought
emails. They asked me to put together a program on PAWS for
next month so I guess I'm going to be going back through the
archives for as much info as possible.
Does anyone know when PAWS is scheduled to be voted on? I'm
wondering how much time we have?

hearings in subcommittee on PAWS on Sept. 7th I
believe. The rumor is that there will be many promises
made by Santorum et all about raising the limits and
excluding rescue. First thing to keep in mind is that
the subcommittee can NOT promise any changes that can
not be rearranged in the full committee or at any
later date. Second is that any limits establish legal
precedent that can be challenged by the AR groups in
the law courts. The worst thing about this is the
timing. This hearing is before the next AKC board
meeting so they will be touting the promises made in
the hearing which are not something we can count on.
The full committee will not have any hearings on PAWS
until after the AKC board meeting. The only good PAWS
bill is a dead PAWS bill. More than 200 animal related
groups have now come out in opposition to PAWS - they
