He left us, last night at age 95.
He was a member of the Greatest Generation. He was a US Army Veteran. He
was a War Dog trainer at Fort Robinson during WW11. Purple Heart
recipient.. He fought for our Freedom on Iwo Jima, and miraculously
survived that awful battle.
The love of German Shepherd Dogs he passed down through the generations to
Ken, Bill , Grandchildren Ryan and Hunter, who now also train and show.
He raised a beautiful family, was a college professor, worked for Kaiser
Steel, and later on he and his wonderful wife spent decades volunteering at
the UCR Botanical Gardens, until just a few years ago.
He was incredibly intelligent, with a dry sense of humor. He would deliver
bad puns to hear us groan, and could deliver a one-liner, with any stand up
comedian. The Lord in his mercy kept him mentally sharp and funny right up
until the last day. Remarkable.
He was the undisputed Patriarch of the family. He was one of the most
amazing people I have ever known. We will miss you Dad, more than you can
know.
I am truly HONORED and PROUD to be your Daughter in Law. God Speed,
until we see you, again. At Ease Soldier, At Ease.
