From: editor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Another version of SB 95 Version 6 of SB 95 has been released, but it has few changes that deal with the bill's impact on breeders. The language changing the definition of dog kennel remains, so anyone with an intact dog will be required to buy a county kennel license regardless of intent to breed. The language requiring rescues to be licensed, to undergo criminal background checks, to submit a list of foster homes to the state, to have adoption fees approved by the new state agency, and to abide by the long list of rigid standards listed for commercial kennels also remains in the bill. Anyone who lives in a jurisdiction that limits businesses in general or kennels in particular in residential zones will have trouble getting a kennel license if the bill passes as written. The hearing is tomorrow [5/26] at 9:30 a.m. in the Grant Hearing Room (Room 110) in the Capitol Building in Columbus. Contact me if you'd like a copy of the sub-bill.
