Amen, it is the means to express our opinion, sometimes good and sometimes to try to influence the judge. But either way I believe it is part of our freedom to express our opinions. Many years ago a judge called out Betty quit clapping. I thought that in poor taste, then and still do now. As a judge, you should be able to tone out the applause and do as you think you should, clapping or not. Good for you, to express that.
