Deputy K-9 Sara died due to complications of cancer. Sara came to work for the Sheriff's Office in April 2007. John Moriarty of Florida graciously donated her. Quadra Mining, Ray Hansen of V&S Variety and Bryson and Christina Pickens also contributed funding and supplies for transportation of Sara and equipment needed for her training. Sara was a multi-purpose dog. She received her first training in bomb detection and completed a one- year tour of duty in Baghdad. Sara provided services for the Nevada Supreme Court when they held a meeting in Elko searching the building they were to meet in.
