Ears are moderately pointed, in proportion to the skull, open toward the front, 
and carried erect when at attention, the ideal carriage being one in which the 
center lines of the ears, viewed from the front, are parallel to each other and 
perpendicular to the ground. A dog with cropped or hanging ears must be 
disqualified.

I am having a very hard time with all the personal interpretation that has been 
included in the IS. 
One instance is the ears. - The above is lifted from the current IS standard. 
Unless I have missed it some where else at no point does the standard say small 
ears or long ears are undesireable like the IS does. Now whose remarks are 
these about small and long ears and why are they in there?
