From the posts I have been reading, it must have destroyed the breed, it is so off from what we have developed. That brings up a good question. If the illustrated standard we have used for so long did nothing but cause us to breed a different looking dog, why does anyone think if we come up with a new illustrated standard, it will change what breeders do to the breed in the future? Maybe what we should do is develop an illustrated standard with an expiration date of ten years. Every ten years we will re-do the illustrated standard to match what the current dogs look like. Isn't that what we are now doing? Changing the standard to more accurately represent what we have developed with our breeding programs? Not that there is anything wrong with that. Or is there?
