I know nothing about this intended legislation, but residents should check into it...read it carefully. Be part of the process. To: Undisclosed-Recipient:; Sent: Friday, July 06, 2007 4:54 PM Subject: Fw: YES H3841 Animal Protection I am crossposting per Senator Callahan's aide request regarding a new bill they are drafting...regarding petstores AND breeders...please crosspost far and wide to anyone involved with animals in the State of Massachusetts. They are looking for written testimony as to why this bill should be passed. PLEASE read these documents and DO IT NOW... they are collecting all this info NOW. So please take time to draft a nice, detailed, professional letter! If you know of anyone who has purchased a sick pet store pet THIS IS THE TIME YOU NEED THEM TO SPEAK UP... we ALL know many of these people!!! Please read all attachments carefully. They are looking for those of us with backgrounds in animal care/rescue to give WRITTEN testimony as to WHY we need such a bill. The bill seeks to create a Division of Domestic Animal Protection, Investigation, and Enforcement. There will be rules and regulations developed relative to the sale of domestic animals by pet shops, kennels, and breeders. The bill also calls for procedures to be developed by the Division to issue a license or permit to sell domestic animals. The Division is also charged with capturing data on the sale activities of domestic animals including, but not limited to; breed, sales price, and age and reporting such information to the Department of Revenue and the public annually. This legislation has two key exemptions: · it does not apply to any non-profit organization or association whose mission is to care and protect abandoned, abused, or neglected domestic animals · any person who has one domestic animal litter per year is exempt from complying with the Division rules and regulations please read the document above on How to Testify... but you will be writing testimony to the below addresses The Honorable Michael Rodrigues Chair, Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure State House, Room 43 Boston, MA 02133 The Honorable Michael Morrissey Chair, Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure State House, Room 413-D Boston, MA 02133 Although you are addressing your written testimony to the Committee Chairs, please send it through Representative Callahan's office either by mailing it to: State Representative Jennifer Callahan State House, Room 130 Boston, MA 02133 or by emailing it to: Rep.JenniferCallahan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx If you should have any questions, please contact Jennifer Warren in Representative Callahan's office at 617-722-2130. ~~~~~~~~ Stormy Hope California Federation of Dog Clubs www.cfodconline.org SP Region GSDCA RALEEF Representative ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2007.
