I only knew Mary through the Internet. Several years ago, she emailed me in
response to some posts I was doing about GSD breeding, and that led to several
emails exchanged. If I remember correctly this was before the list even
existed. Back then, it was just the GSD chat room on AOL, and the AOL bulletin
boards. Even with only that contact through the computer, it was Mary who gave
me the confidence to speak up about the breed. She called me a "true student
of the breed," and that was the greatest compliment. If I am a student of the
breed, then Mary was the top student. My heartfelt condolences to those who
were lucky enough to be close to her. The breed is better because of her.
