[ SHOWGSD-L ] Lex - A Marine's Best Friend

Hope you all got to see this morning's news about Lex, a beautiful, big,
burly GSD that was serving in Iraq with his trainer, Dustin Lee. They said
that
Lex's job was locating roadside bombs, which he did very well, but he was
wounded at the same time Dustin was killed by mortar. They said they had to
pry
Lex from Dustin's body.
After many petitions and help from a US Senator, nine months later the
Marines agreed to let Lex come home to live out his life with Dustin's family.
In an interview with the family, it was so clear that having Dustin's best
friend with them gave them much comfort.
My heart just swelled with pride....not a Malinois, Golden, or Lab....but
one of our own. What a magnificent dog! He even looked like a
Marine...gorgeous head, exuding pride, dignity and strength.
