I find my old friends, (those still on the right side of the grass) as much
fun as ever, and keep meeting new people all the time.
It may be true that some of the old foggyies and some of the negative
people tend to get a lot of attention, but they either come around or drop
out.
When I look around the ring, I feel great to know how much fun people are
having. I listen to the bitching and complaining, then we still laugh, and
we all start to talk about the old days. These days, today, are going to be
the old days for some of them, and they probably will be talking the same.
I remember walking on the beach with Barbara, (thanks Barb), and falling at
the National with Joan judging. I remember Fran remembering the missing
tooth, and Bob Penny asking me at the Futurity if I could get Destiny to
clean up going away, (no, I couldn't). Today is just as much fun, showing
again under Joan a couple of weeks ago, waiting to watch Barbara judge a
national again in a few months.
It may be my perspective since I spend all day representing rapists,
murderers, wife beaters, liers cheaters, and child molesters. And, those are
just the other attorneys.
To me the shows are almost as much fun as they ever were. I do hate that I
no longer can go into the ring, but I have been watching a 9 year old
Summer handle a dog, and have as much fun as I used to. It is almost as good
as
doing it myself, almost. But, the shows are still fun, the dogs still give
me all I could ask for, the juries now and then find in my favor, and all
is good.
Now, if I could just figure out how to put together the Ikea display rack
Tedi bought me for the office, I would be having another fantastic day.
I have not given up, but I needed a break to read the List.
