I think there is a virus going around that makes some people forget that we
are supposed to be in this activity for fun--not for any other reason.
The motto should be "first do no harm," but that seems to have been thrown
out the window. It's now "win at all costs," and that is now applied not
only to the show ring, but to holding office. For pity's sake, holding
office even in a little local club is a PITA.......I can't imagine why
anyone in their right mind would want a national office.....especially if
they've held one once!!!
(Been there, done that, wouldn't do it again for cash on the barrel-- well,
maybe for the right amount of cash........)
And it's all anyone can talk about? Who sent that, why didn't I get one,
who authorized that...
what a bunch of crap!!! (being polite there)
And then there is the talk about letters about crooked judges, sent months
after the fact-- gossip is fun, folks, but not this stupid stuff. The club
was nearly destroyed 2 years ago...and it seems some are determined to try
again, because the first attempt failed.
Angie is right. Where are the predictions for the National? How come
nobody talked about Canada? Is anybody going to try to win the new Grand
Champion (AKC's version) award? Why? Why not?
If all this is too easy, maybe it's time to take a pill and lie down
until Vancouver hosts the winter Olympics. Even if the Americans and
Canadians don't win a single medal, it's bound to be less of an annoyance
than all this conjecture about who said what who did what who wants what,
and why.
