Ok, this won't work for everyone but not a bad option. I have a neighbor who
lives about 4 houses down. Tonight he brought his wife and 18 mos daughter
to my next door neighbors home. They (next door neighbor) have a 2yr old girl.
I was outside, doing yard duties when they came by. They stopped to say Hi
and the next thing I know, Charm is trying to get the baby's attention. I
told them about Charm being the 2004 Good Will Ambassador and how she loves
kids.
The little girl was giggling like crazy. I asked if she wanted to meet
Charm. The parents said ok so I brought Charm out the front gate, on a lead,
to
meet them. The little girl hugged and kissed Charm like crazy. Later, as I
was talking to the parents, girl waddles to a flag by the mailbox. Charm about
had a heart attack. Too close to the street. Charmed pulled me to her,
rounded her up and then stayed between her and the street. Now, how does a dog
who
has never been in front of that gate, except for our walks, on a lead, know
that street is dangerous for a little girl? She knew and the parents were
impressed.
I have a great relationship with the next door neighbor with the 2 yr old.
In fact, she and my dogs play every night between fences. This girl cannot
pronounce my name. But, she hears me calling my girl Layla all the time. I
guess
she decided Layla sounds like Laura. But, she changed my name to Lola. So,
my new name is Lola cuz now both girls are calling me Lola. Funny thing is
that the name of the mother of the 18mos old, is Laura. LOL!

Now, these folks may live a bit too far away to be complaining about my dogs.
But, they can sure be a great back up if you are ever in trouble. Just a
thought. Take the dog for walks and make it a huge point to meet all your
neighbors. Show them how wonderful your dogs are. Stop complaints before they
happen. I know, there are folks that are just mean and won't cooperate, but
it's
worth a try. BTW, these folks asked me to let them know when I have my next
litter :-)
