Then they stopped allowing this. I just went to their web site and they are, once again, selling Heartguard Plus with no need for a prescription but the price is no longer a bargain ($43). Has anyone else seen this? Dania >> Although I never bought heartworm or any other meds online, I DO know WHY Heartguard prices went up -- Heartguard is owned by the same company that made Vioxx, the human anti-inflammatory medication. When Vioxx (and subsequently, other similar anti-inflammatories) was pulled from the market, the company that owned Vioxx increased the price on other medications, and the veterinary side was hit pretty hard. Vioxx was extremely expensive compared to the older anti-inflammatories. And it still got pulled for safety reasons. I've seen more & more ads on TV calling for anyone who's ever taken (name a drug that was introduced in the last ten years) to contact the law firm of so & so to take part in a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer.
