Sally and Friends,
The cost for handlers, well everyone, is going sky high, everyone is feeling
the pinch. The cost of flying dogs and equipment, esp if you are taking
multiple dogs, & grooming table, IF you can find a carrier to TAKE your
animals, is exorbitant .
Driving, esp a large van ( not a minivan) loaded with 1,000 pounds of
dogs etc, at 3.00 a gallon is incredible. It costs us about 90.00 to fill the
tank on our F-150 van, and it's not even the biggest . Driving to a National
is IMPOSSIBLE for many, as the national is FAR TOO LONG and if you add drive
time you are looking at TWO weeks to devote to a show that should take four
DAYS max. Who can afford that kind of time away, from work and home??
It was said tongue in cheek before, but honestly maybe a DUAL coast
National is not too out of the question. As it is , when the National is held
on
one coast or the other , it is poorly attended by the other side. Can't help
it, showing dogs is becoming extremely tough for EVERYONE, so the opposing
coast really cannot be blamed for a poor entry at a given National. Who can
afford this kind of time and money???
