[ SHOWGSD-L ] GSDCA Opposes PAWS

At the July GSDCA Board Meeting your Board voted unanimously to join many
other dog clubs and oppose PAWS. Kathy Casteel in her Committee Report listed
an
easy and very efficient method to write a letter to your Senator and now is
the time for all of us to take a few minutes, follow these instructions and
make your feelings known. If you choose not to become involved in the effort
to
defeat PAWS and the possibility that the USDA would become the regulatory
agency for all dog and cat owners then please do not object when your world
changes.
So take a few minutes right now and follow these instructions:

At the NAIA home page, it says Welcome to the NAIA Trust.
There are six pages of background and reasons to oppose PAWS including 14
specific grounds for opposition under the heading NAIA Trust Opposes PAWS.
To go immediately to letter writing click on any of the other three headings,
then click on the Alert! Box. It will take you to SB1139/HB2669 Pet Animal
Welfare Statute of 2005 and you will see a take action now box. From here, you
can enter your zip code and go directly to your US Senator and US
Representative. You will be given the option for an email or a letter. Please
check
letter as recommended by Dr. Carmen Battaglia. As you go through the process
it
will actually write the letter with names and addresses for you and all you
have
to do is print it out and mail it. Follow the prompts and choose the
paragraphs in the Talking Points to customize and edit your own letter. As you
print
out the letters, save one of them and then go back to the Legislative Action
Center page to select your state under State Officials. You will see your State
Representative, click on the US Representative's name and it will bring you
to the detail page, then click on Send Message under their picture. You will
then be able to copy the letter you saved and print it out to send it to your
Representative as well. It will be critical to do that at this time, as that
is where the bill is heading first.
Now you have your letters. SEND THEM. The Volume of mail will gain
attention from your Representatives.
You can make a difference.
