Dear Legislative Liaisons, All-breed Club Officers, Delegates, Judges,  
and Breeders: Please forward this message to members of your club(s)  
in Missouri or others who may be impacted:

The Missouri Senate Agriculture, Food Production, and Outdoor  
Resources will hold a public hearing tomorrow (Wednesday, May 2) that  
would make several positive changes to the state’s laws regarding  
animal seizure laws.

AKC Government Relations supports House Bill 1444, which, among other  
provisions, states that no animal may be intentionally euthanized or  
sterilized until legal proceedings have been concluded.

The committee was originally scheduled to hold the public hearing on  
April 25.

Missouri dog owners and breeders are encouraged to contact the Senate  
committee members and respectfully ask them to support this bill that  
will help ensure the rights of dog owners are protected.  Read AKC’s  
previous Legislative Alert for more information on House Bill 1444 and  
committee contact information.
