Manipulating finances are nothing new in today's world. However, I was always
taught, NO Receipt...No Money. Now, I don't want a summary, I want line items
and breakdowns. It takes a strong hand to stand by that and not everyone is up
to it. The people that want to get away with it will try to find a way. It's a
game..that's all it is just like a game of chess. lol

You can easily manipulate the financials to show just about anything. It would
be a lot easier to understand the numbers if they actually provided true
breakdowns instead of summaries which tell you nothing if you really want to
analyse them.
There are many ways to save money hosting events but often there are ulterior
motives shading the reports we see. Some are egocentric, some are political,
some are lack of experience. i know the USA hosted Sieger shows brought in
European judges, had impressive trophies, had all of the usual facility and
other costs, and made money. They had sponsors, catalog ads, vendors. It was
run by a very experienced show secretary, one that the GSDCA did not think was
good enough.

I can understand paying a judge to come from Germany...so the flight is $2000
(someone booked late), a week's hotel rooms and meals is $1500 , judging fee is
$300 per day x 3 days = $900 (I have no idea what their fee is but am doubling
what performance judges up here charge), say $20 per dog payment to the SV for
their fees 200 dogs (show and trial) x $20 = $4000, venue charge $8000 ,
trophies 200 x $20= $4000 , secretarial fees $2000, so how does that add up to
$46000?
And please, I'm a person who has German Show Line dogs and loves IPO and think
that it's a part of the GSD as well as herding, obedience, etc etc. I am also
a member of the SV (25000 members worldwide is the number that I last heard).
But losses of that amount are not 'doable' in the real world.

Very interesting position. We are being told we will remain in St. Louis until
the club shows enough reserves.
Here we find the idea that we will not spend money to support the SV until the
club shows enough reserves.
The major cost as I read it, is paying for a judge to come from Germany. We
have some judges here in America, (I think Helen Gleason our National Specials
Judge is qualified, and I think Dr. Goldberg), and there is no reason why the
GSDCA has to carry that load, until we have enough reserves.
I do support the total dog. I even like the St. Louis arena. I can appreciate
all the board does, but there should be some balance.
If the members of the GSDCA are asked to sacrifice something, not supporting
the SV having a show in America might be a more rational demand.
