This change in diet has also worked wonders for the dog of a good friend. I
read about the Diet in The Whole Dog Journal and suggested she try it. It is
to eliminate all grains (ie gluten), all red meat and all dairy.
The dog was put on IVD Potato Duck kibble and canned. . . absolutely nothing
else...no biscuits, no greenies - nothing. Only treats we could find were
Natural Balance Potato Duck biscuits. It has been 9 months and no seizures.
Before the diet change, he was having cluster seizures every month or less.
Recently, she started adding some chicken breast meat and the dog is still
doing
fine. The additional of chicken is helpful as she can buy dried chicken breast
strips in the pet food section at Costco and they make great treats. The dog
is still on his meds but also at a lower dose.
After all those years of suffering the seizures, this is truly a miracle. I
told my hollistic vet about, gave her the article, and she has put 5 of her
client's dogs who suffered seizures on it and four out of the five are seizure
free.
