Now, we can all worry about PETA showing up at our
specialties and maybe at the National and interfering with everyone and
everybody, not to mention that people are going to have to be very
careful that dogs aren't turned loose by these PETA freaks...we know
they've done it as recently as this past spring, and they would just
LOVE to see all the dogs running loose, fighting, etc.

PETA was at a show in Wrightstown PA I attended over a three day weekend
early this summer, and yes, they turned dogs loose (Akitas...what were they
thinking??????), so I would suggest everyone go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy
the lock sets that open w/ a master key so they can lock crates....PETA showing

up can't be blamed on this incident.

On top of that, the people with the cat (and yes, I looked at the
pictures and I do know who they are) shouldn't be allowed to own a cat.

Boy, I swore I wasn't going to get into this....

I have personally met Hazel the cat. She is one cool cat. I have watched
youngsters gait and Hazel is right in there, gaiting with them. She thinks
she's a GSD lol:)))) Anyone who knows Donna & Leslie knows they live in a
rural area and, unfortunately, an awful lot of people DUMP cats. These two
catch
the cats, PAY TO spay, neuter the cats, flea treat the cats, feed the cats
and get them healthy. Hazel grew up with the dog she was doubling; they're
buddies. A lot of the cats there are downright rude <G>. They demand to be
pet
or they dig their nails through your jeans, they demand choice tidbits to
eat or you get swat with a paw...oh yeah (sarcastically), I can just tell, its
a bad place to be a cat!

(BTW, faced w/ the same dilemma, <someone dumping two cats>, I was on my way
to Tractor Supply for a Have a Heart Trap and planned to take the dumped or
feral kitties to the humane society, so they are better people than I when it
comes to saving kitties.)

I can't make the argument that it "looked OK". I'm sorry, though, that the
people who took offense didn't speak up. They would have learned for
themselves that Hazel was indeed, fine. Hazel wasn't hot. (It was a hot
day.)
Hazel had a cool pack under a layer of towels in her carrier and fresh water.
Hazel played w/ Amanda and Olivia later.

The Am Bred class winner being indignant w/ a bitch in front of her had
nothing to do with Hazel the cat. That bitch hates something in front of her
and
was with another handler who took her back in for winners. Should have been
a race horse, that one! Obviously, contrary to the BS reported on another
message board, the judge, handlers, ring steward and all of the spectators had
an opportunity to protest and didn't. She just gets cranky with a dog in
front is all...not ideal, but hardly the end of the world.

You know, while I'm on a roll, the people who took offense can just go to
h***. Members of some do good rescue, who have nothing to do w/ saving the
world from responsible breeders and breeders' dogs but back yard and pet shop
dogs, who have been welcomed with open arms by GWDC started this fuss. GW
holds a rescue parade, allows then booth space at their show AND makes
donations. The folks who started all of this KNOW the people in the club and
IF they
took such OFFENSE (sorry to yell), knew who to speak to. Oh, I've read the
diatribe on some other list and it's all well and good to make exaggerated
claims and feign hysteria later (can you tell this has been building for a
week?), but IF I saw cruelty, you can be damned sure I wouldn't go home, post
pictures and start a ruckus on some message board; NO SIR, I'd speak up then
and
there....which they didn't do BECAUSE to any thinking mind, they knew the cat
was fine.

WHILE I'M AT IT, we found out early on that my Cody was fascinated w/ Patti
Breault's toy apricot poodle, Sonny. How we found out was I held Sonny once
while Patti showed Cody, Sonny screamed for his momma and aaarrrrooouuunnndd
the ring Cody went. After that, we were a team <G>. Whenever we had a big
win, Sonny got a box of treats delivered "from" Cody. Sonny was in no danger
from Cody; in fact just the opposite....Sonny lost a baby tooth in Cody trying
to get a piece of flip bone away from him. Cody was covered in (Sonny)
blood, Sonny was missing a tooth. Cody stood up and that rascal poodle was
hanging from the side of his face. We were all there and saw it, so Cody was
in
the clear.

I never heard anyone say we were being "cruel" when I held Sonny outside of
the ring. Maybe they did, just never to my face. It WAS cool though. Even
at the all breeds, we never got "caught". Sonny was always meticulous in his
show clip, so who would know?

The lesson I take from all of this is that you never know who is going to
show up, who has a digital or cell phone camera and we had all better tighten
up
and be careful. I'm more mindful at all breed shows, but who among us
hasn't had a youngster act inappropriately and earn a religion lesson when we
think we're in a safe place to administer it? No more. Not off your own
property. (And I'm hardly cruel to dogs). You just never know who has a
camera or
a cell phone.

As for Donna and Leslie owning cats; yes, I can think of several fortunate
cats who were lucky enough to be DUMPED near their house; a whole lot luckier
than they would have been being dumped near mine. I think they'll leave
Hazel home from now on though.

It's time for this to end. I hope no one is fined. IMO, if the club says
"no big deal" and the judge says "nope, didn't see anything to be concerned
about", it will all go away....at least I hope so, for all concerned.
