As I said before I think the standard is quite explicit. What it appears to me to be confusing is as all dogs deviate its the direction that the dog deviates that cause it to look so different from each other. Now don't get me wrong no deviation should go so far as to be a serious fault. An example over set ears -- wide set ears -- hanging ears= deviation, deviation, DQ. . Try to imagine two dogs dog #1 dark bi-color slight over set ears a bit close coated just a touch too much leg and ever so little refined in head. Dog # 2 a well pigmented sable Slightly wide set ears. a bit open in coat Just a touch short in leg and a little coarse in head. Both sound and good movers. Here we have two dogs that deviate from perfection the same amount but look very different. Fred M.
