By 6-8 weeks we have a real good idea as to the keepers or not, at 12 weeks,
we are certain, but for the sake of a star that we may sell to someone else
we try to keep them till they are old enough to Prelim, so the buyer can be
assured that they are getting a sound puppy for their emotional and financial
investment. Sometimes despite our insistence to hang onto a puppy, a buyer
will cajole and plead and convince us to sell a puppy younger. No matter,
because they are all guaranteed fully, but we like to make sure everyone is
happy and has no concerns from the get go. Makes for a better night's sleep,
lol.
