Hearing the stories of Lexington and how cold it was....I KNOW how cold it was.
Wearing Levi's and a light blouse, (I was selling raffle tickets for the
parent club) when I was tapped on the shoulder to get down to the ring. The
6-9 bitch class had just started and the judge, Joe Bihiari, wasn't feeling
well. As 4th on the list that year, I suddenly was about to judge. Dressed in
kennel couture, I smiled with embarrassment at the VIP's from AKC. In the
center of the ring the wind and snow howled into the building right at me. At
least the handlers could gait to keep warm but as I recall, my hands were no
longer part of my body. When I placed the 6-9 puppy bitch "Reserve Winners
Bitch" some thought my brain had surely frozen. However, Grand Victrix
Fettuccini, showed her promise even then.
