[ SHOWGSD-L ] Christmas Isn't Merry For Everyone

Through no fault of their own, there are people who find Christmas depressing.  
The pain of losing a loved one over shadows the happiness they should have 
today.  I know of one such person, Cheryl, who I have never personally met.  I 
worked with her daughter, Jessica, who was just 19 years old when she was 
killed by a drunk driver this past spring.  Needless to say, this Christmas is 
the hardest for the family.   I can actually feel Cheryl's pain in her FB posts 
yesterday and today.   I tried my best to cheer her up but she just seemed to 
be getting worse.  

Because of her sadness she couldn't see the happiness that Jessica had bought 
to 5 people this Christmas.  Jessica was an organ donor.  In her death, she 
gave 3 people a new organ, and 2 blind people can now see.     Cheryl had 
totally forgotten about the organ donations until I reminded her that Jessica 
was able to bring a Merry Christmas to 5 complete strangers.   And, I am sure 
these strangers are forever grateful.   This seemed to bring some peace to her. 
  

So,  the next time you feel you didn't get the gift you wanted at Christmas, or 
that you have to dress nice and go to see relatives you can't stand, think of 
those who are in so much pain, the holidays are just unbearable.   How they 
would give anything to have one more Christmas with someone they lost. 

Merry Christmas everyone, and hug the ones you still have with you.  And, 
please do NOT drink and drive!
