barefoot handler
This weekend Covy Tucker Hill's Mystic Fire made quite a splash in the
ring! Mysty aka Mystivious is a littermate to Nonobaddog, aka Magnum,
and new Champion CTH Cherry Bomb.
Now that Cherry is finished, Mysty will start her show career. At the
first Santa Clara KC show she was WB/BOW and at the second show she
was WB/BOW and Best of Breed over two specials!!! She was shown in
American bred both days by regular handler Art Sinclair but since he
had to stay on his open bitch, on Saturday co-owner Bill Petterson
took her in for winners and put WB on her then Debbie Hopkins took her
in for breed and put BOW on her.
At the second show, Mysty was again WB/BOW thanks to Rachel Vitorelo
who took her in as Art was on his open bitch. Rachel normally does not
show shepherds although she has taken Cherry and Magnum back in before
but this time she had on her "cute shoes" as she was showing dogs that
don't gait like a shepherd. After one time around the group size ring
we had, the judge commented to her that she could tell she was having
problems running in "those shoes" and asked her if she would like to
run barefoot as she, the judge, would really like to see Mysty pull
out! So Rachel kicked off her "cute shoes" and took off around the
ring!! It was then judge Peggy Biesel Mcllwaine pointed to Mysty for
winners!!! Then since Art was on his special and Debbie Hopkins was
no longer on her bred by winner, she took Mysty in for breed (she had
real GSD shoes on) and went BOB over the two specials. It was a little
hectic orchestrating all of this but some times it takes a village and
we have a great Village! Big thanks to both Debbie and Rachel.
Unfortunately, co-owner Bill was not there to see this!
As a side note, there were two very well known male all breed handlers
watching all this outside of the ring and someone heard them comment
that "it was just too hard work to show those dogs and they would
never want to work that hard". And these were guys who actually show
large breed dogs and not toys! LOL
Unfortunately too to unforseen circumstances that involved car
problems we were not able to show in the group ring but it was a
pretty fun although hectic day.
Mysty is sired by my Strider, GCH Rohan's Reward ROM TC CGC HT RE CDX
and out of CTH Wild Fire II and bred by Gloria Birch and Cappy Pottle
and is owned by myself and Bill Petterson.
