As for two Nationals for the different events, it is an interesting idea.
I know the "knee jerk" reaction it to shout out about the total dog. But,
in truth, those of us in Conformation, although we admire and enjoy
performance events, we seldom get there, and in truth, don't require their
events to be held with us.
At the dog shows, they always bring in the top winning obedience dog in
the conformation ring for presentation. But, the obedience people never
would want the BOB dog to their ring.
It is time to give some thought to separation of the events. While I do
appreciate those who have the time and dedication to do agility, dock
diving, barn work, herding, etc. I see the value in having different
Nationals.
We could even have a National for Long Coats.
And a National for Whites.
And a National for OFA.
And a National for dogs, and one for bitches.
And a National for all Blacks.
And a National for Canadian dogs only.
And a National for Schutzhund.
OK, maybe I got carried away. But, it is worth discussing.
