Our performance people are the backbone of the club. When we were full of
conformation exhibitors we had trouble getting volunteers for events. They
couldn't work conformation events as they had to get their dog ready. They
didn't work agility because they did not care about that. Obed? conflicts.
Herding? Sheep are smelly. We are now "overrun with performance folk" and
they work all events, are supportive and our treasury is in good shape.
Right now there are very few conformation exhibitors in the northwest and
we are happy all those people who enjoy training their dogs are here.

The club I was in in Texas became over ran with performance people and it
was impossible for the very few conformation people to go forward with
anything.
The current president of that club owns a mixed breed dog she does
performance with....nice for a GSD club.
Not saying all venues should not be represented on our board, but you have
to proceed with caution....

There are enough good people to vote for, and if you don't know what they
will do on the board, don't vote for them. When the performance people
outnumber us, they will run the club. That is how a democracy works.
