One morning not long ago I had taken my daily walk with my German Shepherd
Dog, Koda before going to work. On our way back home I saw a little boy
waiting on the corner for the school bus. I would say he was about 7 years
of age. He also saw us walking towards him. Within seconds of that, he bent
over in a play bow manner waiting for Koda to get closer. Then, as we got
about 15' or so from him he stood up with a quite serious look on his face.
What I had taken from his body-language, was most likely, Koda looked
extremely large as we got closer and forgot about doing the play bow.
[smile] Koda also had his eye on the little boy the whole time -- His head
held high and ears erect as we were approaching him. So, I can imagine how
large Koda looked as we came up to him.

As we approached the little boy I had Koda sit. "Would you like to pet my
dog, Koda?" I asked him. His eyes really got big, and immediately with much
enthusiasm said, "Oh Yes!" I had to teach him how to approach a strange dog.
I then told him to just stand there for a second or two so Koda could smell
and get to know him better before he could pet him. The boy was adorable in
his manners -- standing like a little stone statue while holding his breath.
"You can pet him now," I said. He looked up at me with a very serious look
and said: "Your dog is really going to like me, because, I have chocolate in
my pants!"
