I must say Evan and FB had me laughing all day! Some hard truths and only my
opinion.
The Review is not generating enough revenue to feature interviews and pictures
of every GV and GVX in past 15 years. It would take at least two pages per; we
are looking at at 59 pages. (Scoop won twice). Taking this to the BOD or Frank
in July without a business case is pointless. Last I read the GSDCA is not a
cash cow. <g>
That being said; whether a separate publication or a Review feature; it will
take volunteers to complete all the interviews. Easy enough to send questions
to a volunteer interviewer for each GV GVX. Harder to manage and make sure
everyone follows through!
Of those featured; a monetary commitment from the owners/breeders/handlers of
those greats would have to be pledged. Looking at the winners; many would
likely donate for the publication and could cover for those who do not have the
means.
Featuring other greats is a wonderful idea; but who will conduct the
interviews? What is the criteria to determine who qualifies? A monetary
commitment would have to be mandatory for anyone wanting to be part of the
publication as a former great. By invitation concept.
Am I willing to tackle this? Only if Evan forms a committee and FB gets Iza to
eat a rack of smoked ribs. <g>. I actually think this is obtainable. Not an
overnight project; but a worthwhile one.
As always I apprecIate Carolyn's posts. A voice of reason; and a true GSD
lover. Sure wish she would run BOD. Sigh .....................
Sorry for the length of this post. Next time FB gets an out of jail card he
needs to suggest someone else to carry through his ideas! Ha ha
