Spring-Ford board invites public to meet superintendent finalist Published: Monday, April 04, 2011; Last Updated: Mon. Apr 4, 2011, 7:51am By Phil Ellingsworth Jr., pellingsworth@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ROYERSFORD — After spending several months vetting candidates, the Spring-Ford Area School District has found a finalist in its search for a superintendent to replace its long-standing chief: current Chambersburg Area School District Superintendent Joe Padasak. But as with the rest of the search process, school board members and officials do not want to make the decision alone on who will replace Superintendent Marsha R. Hurda. They want the community's full input on the person they will choose to lead the district. After narrowing its choice down to Padasak, the district is inviting the public for a meet-and-greet session at the Spring-Ford Intermediate School on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. During the meeting, residents will be able to ask Padasak, who has served as Chambersburg's superintendent since 2006, education-related questions they would like answered, according to a Spring-Ford press release. Jon J. Rednak, a consultant for Ray and Associates, the firm that has assisted Spring-Ford in looking for a new top administrator since late last year after Hurda announced her intention to retire in July, will read submitted questions and invite Padasak to respond. Following the question and answer session, attendees will be able to interact with Padasak personally, the release said. Prior to the meet and greet session, Padasak will get together with district administrators and tour several of Spring-Ford's buildings, including the High School 10-12 Center, Eighth-Grade Center, Intermediate School and Upper Providence Elementary school. School board members believe a decision about the next superintendent will be announced sometime in April. If the public is interested in submitting a question to Padasak via the district's website, they can visit www.spring-ford.net. Questions will be accepted until 12 p.m. Wednesday. Questions can also be submitted the night of the meeting. John S. Grispon discog@xxxxxxxxxxx 610-948-7655
