Hi everybody,
I wanted to share a link to the PBS project -- The Great American Read -- I
brought up at the meeting yesterday in case anyone on this list might be
interested and hasn't heard about it:
http://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/home/
I thought there was one H.G. Wells novel listed among their 100 "most beloved,"
but I was wrong about that, and their first television program airs on PBS on
Tuesday, May 22, not in August like I thought. (I should do my homework more
carefully!)
I said yesterday that our campus librarians at Penn State are planning a
read-a-thon (students and others will read short sections from their favorite
books) in support of this national project for October 1 or 15. Maybe we can
find a way to combine efforts -- or at least have some books and events lists
for Scranton Reads there.
Best,
Kelley

Subject: [scrantonreads] Scranton Reads Meeting Reminder
Hello Scranton Reads!
I just wanted to send everyone a quick reminder about today’s meeting at 4:30
in the Community Room at the Children’s Library. We’ll be discussing some
programing ideas to go along with War of the Worlds. Some of you have already
made some great suggestions so keep the good ideas coming!
Hope to see everyone there!
Thanks,
Sylvia Orner
