Subject: [SAS] Incoming Flash
I was out the other night with the 10 inch dob in the pasture, Gazing below the
dipper (no optics just looking), when this this light appeared as a small glow
rapidly became brighter to a blue flash then red flash then white then bright
white then another super white flash then it was gone - the whole thing must
have lasted 15 seconds.
This was most likely an incoming rock that traveled straight into the
atmosphere. When we see a meteor we see an arc as it travels in across the sky
and then burns up. I am guessing this was a rock that came straight in.
Amazing sight. At the super bright stage it was brighter then Venus.
