MESSAGE FROM ST. ANDREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL: Dear Parents, * Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep every night, beginning NEXT SATURDAY, May 7th. The effects of not receiving enough sleep usually show up in 2 days, so your child will be affected if he/she doesn’t get enough rest over the weekend. * Get rid of stress and arguing at your home on test days, especially on test mornings. * Feed your child protein for breakfast (meats and cheese are best), rather than sugary treats that don’t last very long in hungry stomaches. * Research shows that, for the most part, children do best when they test with their own classes on test days; so, unless a serious illness or emergency arises, please be sure your child is here, on time, each test day. *Remind your child to take his/her time on the test and work carefully, checking over each answer, to be sure it’s complete and makes sense. Remember: PASS is NOT a timed test; hurrying could cause your child to make a careless mistake and lower his/her score on the test. * Review good test-taking strategies with your child. * More than anything, stay positive and celebrate your children’s learning and growth this year! Remind them to “show what (they) know!” Testing Dates ELA (Reading and Research) May 9 (Monday) Mathematics May 11 (Wednesday) Science or Social Studies* May 12 (Thursday - *All students in grades 4 and 7 will take the science test.
