Well, Happy New Year everyone, here is the 1st issue of 2009 for your
enjoyment:

 

In this issue:

 

1.       In a follow up to last month's  Article, Mike Simonsen, asks is it
a hobby or an Obsession?

2.       NASA's Space Place talks about severe space weather.

3.       In a break from the usual format, in this months Call for
Observations, AJ had us observe various classes of Trumpler Open Clusters
and com[pare our observations to the given Trumpler rating. Quite an
enjoyable exercise, Apparently shared by all who turned in observations.

4.       New President Dick Harshaw presents some outreach opportunities and
comments on the club's financial situation.

5.       The mysterious Captain REFSMMAT is revealed in this month's trivia
question.

6.       Directions to the new Saddle Mountain Observing site are on page
10. 

7.       Page 11 has a member services form. If you have not renewed your
membership, please do so as soon as possible. All lapsed memberships not
renewed by March will no longer receive SACnews, so please renew now to
avoid an interruption in getting your newsletter.
