Hello SAC;
I am going to make an announcement at the September meeting, but I have two
things to say and I want to have folks have some time to consider them.

One, I am not going to run for Vice President next year. So, if you are
interested in a fascinating job that allows you be in contact with astronomers
all over Arizona, then toss your hat in the ring.

Also, I am going to stop being the director of the Novice Group at the end of
the year. I find it fascinating that there have only been two people in charge
of the newbies, me and Wally Brown, so it is time for fresh ideas in this
arena. I do think that the Novices have been served well by the SAC members
over the years and the fact that we have a consistent number of club members
return every year shows me that we are doing something right. But, like I
said, it is time to provide some new ideas in this area.

I do wish to thank all the very knowledgeable people who have been considerate
enough to show up at the star parties that I have designated as Novice Group
meetings. Their expertise and ability to show beginners that observing the sky
can be fun and enjoyable has been the backbone of the Novice Group for all
these years. Thank you to all.

I have lots on my plate for the next few years and I don't think that I can
take on either of these responsibilities and do a good job for the club.

I will continue to provide "leadership" for the Sentinel-Schwaar Star Gaze.
Seeing as how all that involves is setting a date and talking nice to Jack
Jones so the portable toilet will be ready on time. I can handle that.

It has been a privilege to be an officer in SAC for all these years and I will
certainly take this on again at a future date. I hope that new club members
will step forward to guide the club in the future.

Thank you SAC;
Steve Coe
