At last month's meeting I read and passed around a letter regarding a
telescope/equipment sale being held by Dr. Raymond Campbell.  Yes, that
equipment sale.
Additional information from SAC member Mike Collins is as follows:

Here is some information regarding the sale of equipment offered by Dr. Ray
Campbell of Sun Lakes. The sale will take place at Dr. Campbell's home on
Saturday, 0ctober 8th. Dr. Campbell is offering several high-value telescope
systems for extremely low prices, as you may have seen at recent SAC or EVAC
meetings. Because of the demand for these systems and the prices at which
they are being sold, a drawing will be conducted to determine who may
purchase each item. This drawing will be held at about 8:30 p.m. The
telescopes will be set up on Dr. Campbell's property to allow interested
parties the opportunity to examine them prior to the drawing.

In addition to the telescope systems, Dr. Campbell has a number of other
items which will be offered for sale. These will be displayed and sold on a
first-come, first served basis, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Campbell has asked for an approximate count of possible visitors to his
house, because he cannot accommodate more than a few dozen people. If you
expect to attend, please post a reply to the mailing list and I'll convey
the information to Dr. Campbell late next week.

A couple of notes. Dr. Campbell lives in a residential area with a high
concentration of elderly people. If you attend the sale, please drive
carefully while in the area and show consideration for the local residents.
Avoid blocking driveways, minimize noise to the greatest extent possible and
generally attempt to be as invisible as possible. Be especially aware that
golf cart traffic on the streets in that area is common, day and night.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Please do not arrive prior to that time, so as not
to disturb the neighborhood.

Finally, a word about my involvement. I contacted Dr. Campbell and offered
to help in any way I could, since it was evident from his letter that he is
getting on in years and I live fairly close to him. While I am responsible
for this message and will arrive at his house prior to the start of the sale
on Oct. 8 to assist with preparations, I have no other association to this
event. Should I choose to participate in the drawing for any piece of
equipment offered, I will have the same chance as anyone else. I have not
been offered any special consideration for my involvement, nor will I accept
any.
