Perhaps some benchmarking is in order. I have asked about the subject of paper

It's amazing how often a problem (astronomy club or otherwise) has been
competently resolved by other people, and the answer is already out there for
the taking. I hope the CN discussion shows the arguments on both sides, and
how other clubs have addressed it.
