Hello Richard, and other readers.

(For EVAC board members. Richard Harshaw is the SAC 2009 President)

EVAC held a board meeting tonight, and discussed very similar issues and
ideas. Howard Isreal ( howmad1@xxxxxxx ) will be our lead contact person
for activity at the Arizona Science Center. The board has agreed to
participate with the Arizona Science Center throughout the year for their
monthly events.

Randy Peterson ( events@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ) is our general "outreach"
coordinator. EVAC is very big into public outreach programs, including
weekly (Friday and Saturday evenings) observatory time at the Gilbert
Riparian Preserve, next to the Gilbert Library (Greenfield and Guadallupe),
and monthly astronomy speakers for a program known as Skywatch (2nd Friday
evening each month at 8:00 PM at the Gilbert Library), Monthly Public star
parties at the observatory (2nd Friday evening each month), and numerous
school events each month (30-50 events each year, based upon requests).

I know that we are looking at the "100 Hours of Astronomy" event. In
essence, that is simply registering your normal events during that 4-5 day
period, and saying you are part of the big "100 Hours" program.

Please have your committee members contact Howard, or Randy, and we look
forward to a unified and organized participation in the IYA activities, as
well as general astronomy club activities that we may commonly be able to
participate in.

Gentlemen,

I am the 2009 president of the Saguaro Astronomy Club. Like you, we have
been approached by the Arizona Science Center to assist with IYA activities
for the year. I have asked two of our members to spearhead a committee for
that purpose.

I would like to see all the Valley's clubs work together as much as possible
on this. Would you be up to meeting for lunch or dinner some day to discuss
how we can help each other and support local IYA efforts?
