Dear Board Members,
Two small weeklong groups were at RP the first of Feb. It makes for a nice
change to have guests midweek in the off season. I attended the WBC meeting in
Seattle. One current issue is liability and responsibility for the green space
north of the road that leads to Kiwanis Park and Hunter's Glen. It is still
RP/WBC property but with a perpetual easement to the subdivision. I am checking
with a property attorney since it isn't spelled out in the agreement of 2000.
Loan A balance for Ponderosa is $731,789 and Loan B balance is $354,401. WBC is
considering taking on Loan B to generate more revenue for WBC.
I met with Charles Lempesis, attorney, regarding the easement. He knows Tom
Andral, the original developer of Hunters Glen. He will contact him and see if
he has any recollection of an agreement regarding maintenance, and
indemnification surrounding the green space created by the road access to the
park and housing development. It appears that initially there was going to be
an immediate 90 degree left turn to the park and houses and no green space
would have existed. The city did not accept the turn and wanted a curved road
which created that left over piece of land. He will also contact the secretary
of the Home Owners Association and discuss the creation of a maintenance
agreement concurrent with what is already happening and mutual indemnification.
He will also pursue what is to be done with the tree and branches and by whom.
The easement says that the responsibility belongs to the developer and its
assigns so the agreement will spell out specifics. He has offered to do this as
a donation to the camp.
I attended an ABI meeting in WV and talked about the future of American Baptist
Camping cooperation. We agreed to join in with the Presbyterian and UCC annual
conference in Nov in Arkansas and during that time continue the conversation.
Marta is working on the Summer Brochure and the Spring Newsletter. Still no one
has agreed to work on the Jr Camp with Jana.
In Feb we hosted Peer Equip training, Heart Like Yours Quilters, Immaculate
Conception Men's Silent retreat, CDA Assembly Women, RP Board meeting, WSU
Greek Life, Twinlow Methodist Camp Board meeting, First Presbyterian MOPS, and
Berean Bible Women's retreat.
