That's always the problem when you blow things up. The blemishes come out. When I used to do page layout for a daily newspaper, I found reducing photos in size gave us sharper images. Reducing size minimzied the blemishes, made them seem better focused.


I started to print larger when my work was being displayed with that of painters. I would go to the shows and see the size of the canvases and think to myself, boy, my prints sure look small. People are going to be attracted to the big items and not the small. I've also seen photos that wouldn't get chosen for shows when they were printed small, but got in when enlarged. There must be some gamesmanship to printing big for competitions.

Yes, most of the shows I've attended recently feature digitally printed
huge prints.  Viewed up close, most of them lose detail and sharpness.
Up close they "look" digital.

I can print small on my R2400 and get richly detailed prints, and that's
what I like.
