Speaking of geese, my youngest son and his lab went out hunting this morning
and bagged this goose:

My kids all live within a few miles of me here in Silicon Valley (Sunnyvale,
Santa Clara, & San Jose). My two youngest sons went out this morning (It's but
five miles to the southern tip of San Francisco Bay) duck hunting. We get a lot
of Mallard, Spoonies, and Teal, and the occasional gaggle of geese through
here. Today's gaggle came too close to my youngest son's blind and the rest is
history for this specimen. And it gave the young lab practice at retrieving
something nearly her size.
The goose cost a lot more than $70 since this son shoots a Browning 12ga
semi-auto shotgun. Not exactly cheap. I figure that he'll have to shoot a
thousand or so ducks and geese to actually break even. But food always tastes
better when you've worked for it! Plus all of the fun involved...
