Thanks, everybody, for your thoughts on the Rolleimarin and using a Rolleiflex under the surface. John, I got your note and plans. I may give this a try. But I was also intrigued by Eric's suggestion of using a fish tank -- I might go across the street to Petco and see what they have available. Still, I would like to have the pleasure of using a Rolleimarin at least once before I head off to the Great Darkroom, so, Don, yes, I would appreciate contact information for the fellow in California who might rent one to me. Thanks, everybody, for all your help. Sanders On Mar 14, 2009, at 1:07 AM, FreeLists Mailing List Manager wrote:

Not the sort of items you want to post! You could make up a 'lightweight' rigid housing from 3/5mm Perspex or acrylic sheet, fixed together with silicon sealant. You would have to find a way of winding on and releasing the shutter. Focus and exposure could be set before you 'descend' to the depths, providing you have a subject in mind. By 'glueing' a couple of extra thickness 'pads' where you want to pass a shaft through the housing, you can add a couple of o-rings between the pads to effect a seal. I have a copy of an underwater technical pamphlet from the 'Kodak Data Manual' dated circa 1965, which describes DIY housings. I will scan it and email you a copy. I had the idea of building a housing for my Rolleicord Vb years ago....... never got around to it though. ;-) John -----Original Message----- From: rollei_list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rollei_list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sanders McNew Sent: 13 March 2009 03:46 To: rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [rollei_list] Re: Rolleimarin. My last set of Leica slides was a tad underexposed, which was clearly too dark for the current bulb. You can see some scans of the slides here: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/bigon07/Montreal/ (all shot with ZM Zeiss 2.8/35 C-Biogon, BTW) I normally use Hama DSR (35mm) or Hama Proslide AV (7x7) glassless plastic mounts and never have problems with the thicker Proslide AV mounts. Cardboard mounts are trouble in the P11 but then it is so convenient to get the slides back from the lab (nowadays Fujilab in Parsons, KS) and not having to mount them first. There are 4 versions of the Rolleimarin and I have a version 4, that uses only a Rollei 3.5F. It's for sale, along with the camera, accessories, and spare parts, but not for rent. I have two recommendations: 1. Build yourself a box with an open top and a window in the side at the bottom so that you can hold it from the surface and easily get your taking lens down 18". 2. Buy or rent one from a repair company I know of in Northern California. There is a specialist there who owns 4-5 Rolleimarins and he would probably be pleased to rent one to you. I don't have his email address at hand but it's in this computer somewhere.
