2009/11/14 Marvin <marvin0@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>: > Carlos do you know why some Rollei 35s have the Carl Zeiss lenses and others > the Schneiders how do thecompare. > Marvin. In 1972 Rollei had begun the production fever, Rollei Optical Co at Singapore, Voigtländer Optical/Zeiss Ikon and Carl Zeiss Oberkochen were not enough to provide the lenses for the Rollei 35 maintaining low prices, Rollei thought about Schneider to increase the lenses supplies for the camera and then appeared the Rollei 35 S-Xenar (S-Xenar is engraved on the lens ring). According the specifications and tolerances, lens and camera were identical regarding the Rollei 35 Tessar 3,5/40mm, the S-Xenar 3,5 /40 was a Tessar 3,5/40 copy. Schneider could not satisfy Rollei necessities, the lenses deliveries were irregular and only 30,000 were made from July 1972 to April 1973.- Carlos --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
