Dirk et al.

I had to smile about the last sentence:

"Kenner zweifeln deshalb nicht daran, daß die ersten in der Bundesrepublik ausgelieferten SL 2000 F per Luftfracht in japanischen Labors landen und dort bis zum letzten Chip seziert werden." (Those in-the-know do not doubt that the first SL2000 F delivered in the Federal Republic are being air-freighted to Japanese labs where the are being dissected to the last chip.) Sounds rather too confident in German technology, at a time when Japan had already release such marvels as the Canon A1, Minolta XD7 and the new Canon F1N. Sadly, very few people know or care about Rollei's "cube" 35mm camera today, while Canon and Minolta technology lives on in the Canon EOS and the Sony Alpa systems

I have the original German SL2000 brochure ("Rolleiflex SL 2000 F Eine Klasse für sich" - in a class by itself) Both camera and brochure were definitely a (Bauhaus-inspired??) design and aesthetic high point.

Not sure how much sense a WL finder make in a rectangular film format. I had the WL for the Contax 645 (which may? owe some of its design to Rollei SL2000). The finder was quite useless for vertical framing.
